I have a date tonight. It’s the girl I’ve been chasing for weeks.
She’s over 10 on the hotness scale. I knew she had a boyfriend, so I’ve been stalking her online. I liked all her status updates and photos, sometimes going as far as typing ‘lol’ on jokes that couldn’t be less funny. I tagged her in all my photos, so she’d come check out my profile. But all the while, my eye was trained on her relationship status.
Then it changed.
Naturally, I was there to comfort her. I moved in. I messaged her about being ‘too good for him’, and that she ‘would meet her perfect guy soon’. We’ve been growing closer since then.
I asked her if she wanted to hang on Friday night, and she said yes. So it was definitely a date. I met up with her at exactly six. The first thing I noticed was that she was excited. Her eyes were sparkling.
“Hey, guess what? My ex and I are back together!” she squealed, hugging me.
“What?!” I couldn’t hide my disappointment or anger. It was only then that she noticed I was dressed to impress. She got it.
“I thought we were friends. I… I thought… I like you a lot, really, I care about you, but I don’t think about you in that way. I see you as a brother…” But I wasn’t listening.
As soon as I heard ‘friend’, I understood. I turned and walked away. I think she called after me. But in that moment, all I could think of was getting as far away from her as possible.
Was LoverBoy’s lady giving him mixed messages or was he just suffering from a bad case of wishful thinking? Did you ever confuse a friendship with ‘more than just friends’? What happened?

Yes..and what happened was that I really had a crush on her after her being my friend for months ..but after telling her about how I felt over her she..was ready to accept me because she had no extra feelings for me except friendship...
