I always used to laugh at girls who fell in love with their teachers. Little did I know what was coming my way.

I was at a girl's secondary school doing my final grade. All the girls were talking about their boyfriends. I found it difficult to fit into those conversations. I was considered a nerd.

Then I met him. He was a student teacher doing his teaching practical.

Every time I saw him I would feel like I had butterflies in my tummy. As time passed I developed stronger feelings and I could tell he liked me too.

Then I found out my best friend liked him as well so I decided to keep my feelings to myself until I was sure he felt the same way. I am unsure, should I tell him how I feel and find out if he likes me or keep it secret?

Having strong feelings or a crush on an older guy or a teacher is a fun part of growing up. Just don’t confuse it with true love or a real relationship – no matter how real it feels! And remember that teachers are not allowed to have relationships with learners – it is illegal and considered abuse by the law.
