A lot of my friends can’t stand to be alone. I think it’s a great idea.
Don’t get me wrong. I know that we are social beings. We need to interact with people and feel loved. But why do so many people I know think that being single is such a bad idea?
Because of this fear people end up hooking up just for the sake of it. Many don’t even want to. We’re under some big pressure these days to have sex. But what I want to know is: what ever happened to making love? What happened to meeting someone, developing a relationship and then reaching a level where you feel comfortable enough to share your body with your partner? That’s the kind of love – and sex – that I want.
I think it’s this love that can protect you from contracting STIs and unintended pregnancy. Because it’s the type of relationship where you can speak frankly about condom use. Rather than just jumping into bed with a complete stranger because others think it’s the thing to do.
All around me I see teenagers pregnant. Most drop out of school and never move on.
How stupid can they be! One act of sex and your life is changed forever! Lucky for me, I can learn from other people’s mistakes without having to make them myself. Well that’s what I’ve done and it’s worked out really well for me.
I’m in control of my life – I won’t become a statistic.
Do you feel pressure to find a hook-up, get a date, or have sex? Slow down people. Fast love can get you into trouble even faster. Was there a time when you jumped into something too fast? Tell us about it!
